Training

Dog Training / What makes us different?

Our purpose is to provide you with a clean, positive environment in which to learn to communicate with your dog. Our combined experience and knowledge will assist you in bringing out the best in your dog. You will learn how to teach your dog to be successful and enjoy the time you spend together, not only in class but in your day to day lives.

* Experienced and certified professional instructors

* Curriculum based on how a dog learns best at each stage of life

* Positive and safe socialization experience for dogs and their people

Our expertise includes years of observation and study of the body language of dogs and how they interact with people and other dogs. We apply this knowledge to our classroom, and strive to ensure a positive social experience for you and your dog. You will learn how to apply that knowledge in the world outside a training facility.

An important note about socialization

Socialization is crucial to a well rounded dog. So even if it is not participating, it is still learning a vital lesson in socialization. Remember, socialization does not have to be direct physical contact, just being in an environment with humans and other dogs is a social experience. It is critical for a dog to be socialized to other people and other dogs in a safe setting. Far more dogs are euthanized due to behavior issues and lack of socialization than illness and infectious disease or parasites.

Note…. Socialization is only good if it is positive from the dogs perspective

For young puppies

As recommended by the American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior ( avsabonline.org) it is essential that young puppies are exposed to many different experiences to promote healthy growth and development.

We take great pride in ensuring our facility minimizes the risks of exposure to illness, and provides our youngest learners an untroubled beginning in their new life as a member of your family.
Our mats are disinfected before all puppy classes.

The classroom

The classroom was designed to teach the human not the dog. Dogs learn in short increments, not in one hour sessions. We will take several brain breaks as we learn. Bring something with you that your dog likes. A toy, a stuffed Kong or bone is good. Squeak toys can be distracting and are not recommended. If your dog is not participating, that is ok, just learn what you can and take it home and practice in an environment that is better suited to your dog at this time. If we feel the classroom is too overwhelming for your dog, we will apply your balance to private lessons.
